Davidson

Davidson, population about 8,300, is known for its quaint Main Street, tree-lined sidewalk neighborhoods and Davidson College. The independent, liberal arts school has about 1,700 students and was founded in 1837. New neighborhoods are required to incorporate a variety of lot sizes and housing types. This area is highly desirable due to Davidson’s proximity to Lake Davidson, Lake Norman, new up-scale developments, and the allure of the town’s historic charm. The town is located 25 miles North of Uptown Charlotte off I-77’s Exit 30.

When you think about “Old Southern Charm”, you can’t help but think about Davidson, North Carolina. Brick sidewalks, shaded streets, and “The Harvard of the South” – Davidson College. A family friendly town with a weekly farmers market featuring locally grown products, music concerts on the village green each weekend during the summer months, bicycle paths, and a pedestrian friendly environment where all sidewalks lead to downtown.

Homes in Davidson, NC vary in style, from Craftsman style to Colonial, Tudor, Victorian and traditional styles in keeping with the town's quaint, college-town feel.

Historic main street Davidson features mostly Colonial and Craftsman style homes that surround the college. The historic areas of Davidson are lush with tall, mature trees, and cute retail shops and bistros are within walking distance. Newer, transitional style homes are more popular in outlying golf course and country club communities like, River Run.  Part of Davidson is also a waterfront community, on Lake Davidson.  A highway bridge (1-77) divides Lake Davidson from Lake Norman.  Many boaters have their boats docked at nearby marinas to access Lake Norman, as you cannot access Lake Norman from Lake Davidson.  (Lake Norman is much larger than Lake Davidson, and more suitable for ski boats).  Easy access of I-77 on exit 33 is also attractive for many homeowners in this area.
